The NBA All-Star Game will undergo a new format change for the 2024 edition in Indianapolis. The lack of competitiveness, except in specific moments, of the game between teams selected by captains has led to the return of the old format, which sees a matchup take place between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference.
As the date approaches (18 February), the retro feel of the game is one of the more tangible aspects of the event in 2024. Fans are looking forward to it from a nostalgia perspective and the NBA hopes it brings more eyes to the event.
The NBA have already unveiled the jerseys for the showdown. East and West will play in their typical uniforms, blue and red.
Neither will opt for anything unique on their respective jerseys, something that was in demand, especially given the garish colors of previous years.
The style is a nod to the jersey of Reggie Miller's Indiana Pacers in the 90s and the Air Jordan brand returns to manufacture them.
In addition, there are other details such as stars representing each player, graphics indicating the 73rd edition or 'ASG' branding, plus a logo that has a circle surrounding it.
It pays homage to the Circular Monument in downtown Indianapolis dedicated to the city's soldiers and sailors.
Teams close to being unveiled
In addition to the jerseys, the starting teams will be unveiled soon. For the moment, in the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) with more than 4 million.
Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) in the East's inside game and Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers) with more than 2.5 million, Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks) and Damian Lillard (Milwaukee Bucks) at the point guard positions are the most voted.
On the other side, LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) is the second most voted player overall and leads the West with 3.39 million, followed by Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) and Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns) in the inside game.
Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) leads the outside with 3.2 million beating Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder).
