It was just nine days ago that the Minnesota Timberwolves were on top of the world, taking a 2-0 series lead on the defending champions and holding Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets to 80 points. What was even more impressive about that Game 2 performance was that the Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert, missed it.

Gobert came back for Game 3 and has been on the court as he's seen Minnesota drop three straight games while inching closer to elimination. Jokic has been otherworldly in the last two games, as he has exposed the Wolves' defense after it seemed like they had him figured out.

Gobert is getting criticized heavily, and a rival of his came out after the game to destroy his defensive capablities. Draymond Green went off on the "big Frenchman" on the NBA on TNT set.

We, we, we need to do this. You, you, you need to get a stop. It ain't we. Karl-Anthony Towns is actually doing a pretty good job when he's on [Jokic]. It's you, my man, that's getting cooked... Now yes, you do need help from other guys, but on some of those, help can't help you. You just gotta get a stop.

Green and Gobert have a history. Earlier this season, Green put Gobert in a headlock during an on-court altercation. So there may be some residual resentment there.

But Green is certainly a credible critic when you consider his defensive prowess and knowledge. Gobert needs to play better in Game 6 if the Wolves want to stay alive.
