Curry and LeBron: A dream partnership but near impossible: My plan is to play for the Warriors for life

The lives of Stephen Curry and LeBron James are parallel. They are eternal rivals on the court, they are the two biggest stars of the modern NBA era and the dream was always to see them on the same team. The recent Paris 2024 Olympics and the spectacular gold of the U.S. Dream Team, in which the two superstars led the Stars and Stripes, made that goal a reality, in part. Their hugs, connection on the court and several messages exchanged gave rise to the dream of seeing them on the same NBA team, although everything was cut short soon after.

Curry, the best player of the semifinal and final in Paris, had a viral moment when he deleted from his social media bio that he played for the Warriors. The rumor mill went into overdrive. And it crossed paths with LeBron, of course. Some said the move would come with a four-way trade involving the Nets and Pistons to bring Curry to the gold and purple of the Lakers. It didn't happen and Curry renewed for one more season for more than $60 million.

"My plan is to be a Warriors player for life," Curry said. "I just wanted to show my pride in being an Olympian. I had a good time as a kid, I enjoyed basketball," he justified about his change on social media. There was nothing about a possible union with LeBron James, his rival and friend. Again.

Because in February 2024 it also became a possibility. Just after the end of the NBA g period, 'ESPN' reported a rapprochement between the Warriors and LeBron James. It came from the insistence of Draymond Green, a close friend of the 'King', who asked the owner of the San Francisco Bay Area team to encourage it. He went so far as to talk to Lakers management, and after approaching KLUTCH, the agency representing LeBron and Green himself, it became an impossibility.

It seems that they will never fight for a ring hand in hand. And their time as teammates will remain in that historical experience of Paris 2024. And it probably won't be repeated with the U.S. national team. "I will not be in Los Angeles in 2028," LeBron said after winning gold. It would've been a dream union, but it's almost impossible.
