Following a disastrous start to the 2022 NBA season, the Brooklyn Nets (22-12) are riding a nine-game winning streak, enough to earn them the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Kevin Durant (32) and Kyrie Irving (32) combined for 64 points to bully the Cleveland Cavaliers (22-13) Monday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Brooklyn Nets fire head coach Steve Nash

Durant, 34, added five assists and nine rebounds, shooting 10-for-18 from the field. He scored five of eight 3-point attempts.

Irving, 30, hit seven triples on 11 attempts, going an overall 11-for-19 from the floor, while dishing out five assists and grabbing four boards.

Ever since the firing of head coach Steve Nash on November 1, Brooklyn has turned a new leaf under Jacque Vaughn.

Kevin Durant keeps growing legacy

Durant, who wanted Nash out since before the season started, climbed the NBA ladder of all-time leading scorers, moving to the 15th spot past Tim Duncan.

For Cleveland, Darius Garland scored 46 points. TJ Warren, meanwhile recorded 23 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench for Brooklyn.

Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton didn't have a great night in the stats department, but both players have been performing better each game.

Nets are 15-2 in their last 17 games played and will look to extend the win streak to 10 on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
