Reggie Miller has been slammed for his comments about the Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James after the iconic player appeared to suggest he doesn't take any ability during the Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets.
It came after he pointed to Anthony Edwards as an example of a top performance and consummate pro after the Timberwolves lost game three to Nikola Jokic's side, leaving them 2-1 down before they lost control of the series on May 13.
"I'm an even bigger fan of Anthony Edwards after seeing that clip," Miller told TNT after watching the game. "There are certain players that have veteran status that are on people's Mt. Rushmore that are quick to deflect and blame."
It left Nick Wright, an analyst for Fox Sports, with all the excuses he needed to hit back at Miller.
"'Active players on a lot of people's Mount Rushmore [that like to deflect]'", Wright told Fox Sports 1, paraphrasing Miller. Wright then hit back with, "We know it's Bron he's talking about.
"I think this is wildly unfair to LeBron. I also think it is incredibly cowardly by Reggie."
Timberwolves vs Nuggets: What's the picture?
After four games of the series, the Timberwolves and Nuggets have nothing to split them with the contest tied at 2-2.
The defending NBA champions probably won the most important game of the series as a defeat would've left them 3-1 down in the Conference Semifinals and that's a pretty unassailable lead against a talented team like Minnesota.
The Timberwolves had taken the first two game of the series, defeating the Nuggets 106-99 and 106-80 before dropping the following two games 117-90 and 115-107 as momentum has completely shifted around.
Game four will take place on Tuesday, May 14 at 22:30 ET/19:30 PT before the mandatory game five will occur on Friday, May 17 at 20:30 ET/17:30 PT.
With the series finely poised and their dreams hanging in the balances, the Timberwolves and Nuggets will both be giving it their alls.
