Sergio Scariolo could start a second spell in the NBA. The Spanish national team coach has an important offer to the Miami Heat and work alongside Erik Spoelstra, one of the most prestigious coaches in the league with 17 seasons of experience on the bench of the Miami franchise.
The Italian coach, according to Eurohoops, will soon travel to the United States to be interviewed for the position.
Scariolo already had a successful experience in the NBA when he served as an assistant coach with the Raptors between 2018 and 2021. During that time as a member of Nick Nurse's coaching staff, he went on to win the championship ring in 2019 with a roster that included Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Kyle Lowry, Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka...
Linked to European clubs
The Italian coach is still without a club while he remains in charge of the Spanish national team. However, on more than one occasion, he has expressed his desire to return to the day-to-day life of coaching if he found a good proposal. In recent years, his name has been linked with several European clubs, especially Real Madrid, but perhaps his future lies on the other side of the Atlantic.
Scariolo is already planning the Eurobasket that will begin at the end of August and in which the national team will defend the title won in 2022 in one of the greatest feats of Spanish basketball. It was the fourth continental title with the Italian coach at the helm (2009, 2011, 2015 and 2022), who also has a bronze (2017), a World Cup gold (2019) and two Olympic medals (silver in 2012 and bronze in 2016).
