Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever faced the Atlanta Dream in what became one of the most tightly contested games of the 2025 WNBA season so far.

Ultimately, the Fever fell 91-90, but it was no fault of Clark's. The 23-year-old point guard delivered a dazzling performance, scoring 27 points, dishing out 11 assists, and pulling down five rebounds. While the box score didn't result in a win, it added another historic milestone to Clark's already astonishing rookie résumé.

With that outing, Clark tied Chicago Sky veteran Courtney Vandersloot for the most 20-point, 10-assist games in WNBA history-with 10. What makes that stat even more staggering is that Vandersloot achieved that number in 430 career games. Clark? She hit the mark in just 42.

Suring a legend

That same stat line puts Clark ahead of her childhood idol, Diana Taurasi. The Mercury legend, who is the league's all-time leading scorer with 10,646 points, only tallied nine games with at least 20 points and five assists over her 565-game career.

Suring someone of Taurasi's stature speaks volumes-not only about Clark's talent but also about the rapid pace at which she's redefining what it means to be a WNBA rookie.

This is just the latest in a string of milestones Clark has claimed that once belonged to Taurasi. During a late-season game in 2024 against Phoenix, Clark ed both Taurasi and Sabrina Ionescu for the most 25-5-5 games in a single season. She also shattered Taurasi's record for most three-pointers made in a season, drilling 122 threes in her first year alone.

"Suring a legend like Taurasi in multiple categories this early in your career isn't just rare-it's generational," one analyst noted after Clark's latest performance.

The Fever's offseason focus had been building a better foundation around Clark-bringing in names like Aliyah Boston and others to ease the burden. But against the Dream, it was clear Indiana still needs to tighten up defensively.

Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones were forces in the paint, while Rhyne Howard put up clutch numbers to secure the Dream's win.
