- Boxing. Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Floyd Mayweather: "I would have beaten Mayweather, I would have crushed him"
- Boxing. Miguel Cotto: "Canelo Alvarez is just another boxer"
Oscar de la Hoya talked about Canelo Alvarez and questioned whether the fighter should continue his alliance with Eddy Reinoso when it comes to facing Dmitry Bivol in the possible rematch fight.
The still promoter and head of Golden Boy Promotions stated that Saul Alvarez should practice his footwork if he wants to prevail over the Russian fighter in the future and believes that with Reynoso that would not be possible.
Criticism does not cease on Canelo after losing in Las Vegas at 168 pounds. In addition, the departure of fighters like Andy Ruiz and Ryan Garcia doesn't help either.
However, the bond between Canelo Alvarez and Eddy Reinoso is very strong and difficult to break after so many years together. Still, Oscar de la Hoya believes a change would be beneficial.
"If he changes trainers, he has a chance to beat Bivol," Oscar de la Hoya made clear in words to FightHub. He believes that a change in training methodology would be beneficial for Canelo in the rest of his career.
He also provided his analysis as to why he lost to Bivol: "He (referring to Canelo) lost because of his footwork and the other guys were light on their feet, and he was too heavy on his feet.
De la Hoya explains Canelo's loss to Bivol
"He lost because of his footwork and because the other guys were light on their feet, and he was too heavy on his feet," argued the one-time 1992 Olympic champion.
He also talked about Canelo's style against some of his opponents: "I think Canelo is too unprepared for someone like Bivol, who uses his head and his intelligence, because if you look at Canelo's defeats, that's only with Mayweather and Bivol".
Canelo will have a chance to make amends in the coming months if he can beat Gennady Golovkin in Las Vegas. It will be the next fight for Canelo, who will continue to have Eddy Reinoso on his team.
