Promising heavyweight contender Jared Anderson was arrested in Oregon, Ohio early Monday morning. Anderson was charged with improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle and being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while operating a vehicle.

According to a police report from Oregon PD, he was pulled over for going 55 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. Anderson posted a $7,500 bond and was released after several hours. He has a scheduled hearing on Tuesday morning.

Jared Anderson's great year ends on a sour note

Anderson had been having a stellar year. In 2023, he has won three fights, two of them by stoppage. His last bout was against battle-tested veteran Andriy Rudenko, who he dispatched via a 5th round TKO.

While Anderson wasn't yet due for a world title shot in his next fight, he was certainly on his way given his impressive performances against all competition that he has faced. It's unclear if this arrest will affect his career in any way.

He is currently 16-0 with 15 of his wins coming by knockout. The only decision was a unanimous one, when he faced Charles Martin in July of this year.
