Ryan Garcia has been facing intense scrutiny ever since his positive PED test results came to light, with both fans and fellow athletes criticizing him harshly. Despite his vigorous defense, Garcia encountered a significant challenge as boxers Devin Haney and Claressa Shields publicly condemned him, amid reports indicating no contamination in his supplements.
NutraBio, one of the supplement brands Garcia claimed to have used before his fight with Haney, clarified that their product did not contain Ostarine, a substance found in Garcia's test.
This statement severely weakened Garcia's defense and led to Haney and Shields intensifying their criticism.
"Contaminated his own container & sent it in is nasty work," Haney noted.
Shields also voiced her opinion, stating, "Y'all real quiet but the facts are in and he is guilty." Garcia, frustrated by these comments, responded sharply to Shields, saying, "Be quiet and make me a sandwich baby."
Garcia defends himself
The backlash from fans prompted Garcia to defend himself further. Frustrated by the efforts to tarnish his career, the Victorville native insisted that the detected amount of Ostarine was too insignificant to have enhanced his performance.
"Regardless say what you want," he stressed.
"There wasn't any amount of Ostarine that could've helped me beat up Mr. Haney. Why does this victory sting so much?"
Garcia also expressed his displeasure with Victor Conte and tried to make sense of NutraBio's recent statements. Initially, Garcia's camp had planned to argue that the supplements he took were pre-contaminated, a strategy that might have helped him avoid severe punishment. However, Garcia was unhappy with Conte's comments on the matter.
"You may be dumb or dumb of course they will deny this isn't something mind blowing you mayonnaise loving man," Garcia said.
