UFC Bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley has expressed his desire to face Gervonta Davis in a boxing match.
After his victory over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292, O'Malley called out Davis, proposing a crossover boxing match between the two fighters.
Davis' popularity has been surging, particularly following his impressive knockout of top contender Frank Martin over the weekend, which quickly went viral.
Capitalizing on the buzz from Davis' knockout, O'Malley once again issued a challenge to the boxing star during a recent episode of his podcast.
"I'm telling you that fight is going to happen," he noted.
"I would love to go out there and box him. I feel like it could happen sooner than later, but I also know that UFC is down to get behind stuff like that if it's big enough and with that performance, I think we're getting close.
"But maybe I have to go out there and win a couple more fights, win another belt. I don't even know if he's considered a big enough star for the UFC to let that happen. But it'll happen.
"I knock Gervonta Davis out."
Potential fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko
At present, it seems Davis is not interested in a fight with O'Malley, as he has his sights set on a potential match with boxing legend Vasiliy Lomachenko.
"We're up for that fight. Lomachenko's up for that," Top Rank boxing promoter Bob Arum told BoxingScene.
"When we sit down, we will see if it's feasible, but Lomachenko would like to do that fight."
