Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has slammed Jake Paul as a liar after the YouTube-turned-boxer claimed he wanted to fight Alex Pereira shortly after defeating Mike Perry.
Paul put in an impressive display on the weekend, sending Perry to the ground three times and claiming a knockout victory.
Just after the fight, Paul claimed he wanted to fight Pereira, even Facetiming the UFC star, something that raised an alarm for Michael Bisping.
He believes such a fight will never actually happen and that Paul simply pulled off a stunt to draw more attention to himself.
"His fan base, the young little YouTuber guys, those people looking there like 'oh, he's calling out Alex Pereira, wow. This man is insane. He wants the toughest challenges'," Bisping said on his YouTube channel.
"No, Jake Paul is selling you a lie once again because he knows the fight cannot actually happen. They Facetimed. That had to have been organised beforehand because no one just accidentally facetimes Alex Pereira and he picks up."
Another ex-UFC star, former welterweight fighter Tyron Woodley, had an alternative you, believing that Paul's comments were mainly aimed at UFC chief Dana White rather than Pereira.
"I mean, I think it was more so of a Dana callout, you know," Woodley told Dave Schmulenson.
"He knows that only Dana can make that happen so, if he's calling out and he wants it and Pereira wants it, we seen him on Facetime, it's up to Dana to make this fight happen.
"So, I think it was more of that than it was anything else," Woodley further added, emphasising that only White could make the fight happen as the Brazilian was still in contract with the UFC.
Pereira's response
Pereira, during the Facetime call with Paul, seemed in favour of the idea.
"Chama! Let's go my guy," was his response, in a video he would later share on his personal Instagram .
