- Boxing. Canelo confirms his opponent for May 3... and it won't be David Benavidez
Despite recent reports suggesting Canelo Alvarez was in talks to step into the ring with Jake Paul, it looks as though 'The Problem Child' has to look elsewhere for his next fight.
Rather than step into the ring with Paul, Canelo has instead chosen to sign a four-fight deal with the Riyadh Season.
As a result Paul has to return to the drawing board when it comes to his next fight, and regardless of who he finds, it is safe to say that no fighter will measure up to the drawing power of Canelo.
Fighter steps up to face Paul
Despite that, there is one fighter who has stepped up to the plate and challenged Paul to a fight.
One of Terence Crawford's close friends, Steven Nelson, has called out Paul and offered to meet him in the ring.
On X, Nelson posted an edited poster of him and Paul with the caption: "Sign the Contract."
"Aye @jakepaul since Canelo is fighting my brother @terencecrawford instead of you, me and you can fight at whatever weight you want," he wrote, noting that he is ready to fight in May.
"TIME TO FIGHT A REAL...ACTIVE... BOXER, JAKE!!!"
Just two weeks ago Nelson took on No.1 ranked WBO super middleweight contender Diego Pacheco and suffered his first career defeat.
In the meantime, Paul has taken aim at Turki Alalshikh for dashing his hopes of fighting Canelo.
"No matter how much money they spend," Riyadh Season "won't be able to make a bigger fight than me and Canelito," Paul wrote on X.
"That irked them to the core. And don't say Conor...he's more washed than a laundromat. Dummies could have made Canelo September fight so much bigger by letting us do our thing and..."
This prompted a response from Nelson, who told Paul that he wouldn't even have to change weight class if the two were to meet.
"I fight the same weight class and I'm actually a real boxer, people would love to see us fight dude. Let's make it happen!!," wrote Nelson.
