Jake Paul delayed his 28th birthday gift in order to flex on Canelo Alvarez

The YouTuber turned boxer may have waited a bit longer, but it was worth it in the end.

It's been a hectic couple of weeks for Jake Paul. Following what was an incredibly successful - from a business standpoint - event in which he defeated Mike Tyson in a boxing ring, Paul had his sights set on an even bigger fish to fry: Canelo Alvarez.

What once appeared impossible suddenly became close to becoming a reality, with many considering a Paul-Canelo fight all but confirmed just a week ago. But as soon as that news came out, it was squashed by Turki Alalshikh, who made sure to negotiate a deal with Alvarez that wouldn't see him face Paul. It would have been the perfect birthday gift for Paul, who turned 28 years old on January 17.

Paul has made his feelings on Canelo "ducking" him clear, while Alvarez is adamant that he only fights "real boxers". That war of words will continue for a while, but while it manifests, Paul has gotten himself an even better belated birthday present: his own private jet.

Buying a luxury jet is likely a complicated and lengthy process, so maybe Paul couldn't get the paperwork done in time for his birthday. But the timing seems like it may have something to do with the Canelo situation.

Paul could be trying to show Canelo that he doesn't need his money from a potential fight, showcasing that he's more than fine without it. Of course, Alvarez likely doesn't care at all, as the Mexican has a net worth of $250 million.
