It's been an utterly crazy last 12 months for Ryan Garcia. A year after falling to Gervonta Davis, Garcia had secured another mega fight, this time against Devin Haney. In the leadup to the Haney fight, Garcia seemed to truly lose his mind. His erratic social media behavior concerned fans deeply, wondering if he was okay mentally.

Garcia proceeded to dominate Haney, but his win was later stripped away due to a failed drug test. Then came a one-year suspension, which put Garcia in a darker place than before the fight. Only a couple of months later, Garcia was arrested for vandalizing a hotel room. It seemed that Garcia had hit rock bottom.

Ryan Garcia was on mushrooms and alcohol when he destroyed hotel room in Beverly Hills

Garcia confirmed as much in a recent interview with Akin Reyes and Barak Bess. He explained that he took mushrooms the day he wrecked the hotel room, which made him lose control along with his excessive drinking.

I decided to take a bunch of 'shrooms, and it was something I was doing already, but this time I took too many and I kinda just lost it. Yeah, I ended up breaking everything in the room. I really don't , bro. I was drunk and f**ked up. I was doing stuff that was hurting my career.

Garcia also revealed that he was drinking alcohol every single day, including the day of the Haney fight. He had lost complete control, and the arrest was a turning point. He finally realized, "damn, I'm f**king my life up".

Garcia has proven to still be outlandish when the opportunity arises, but getting out of his destructive behaviors will be key for his personal life and boxing career. His road to vengeance starts on May 2, when he will face Rolly Romero on an epic card in New York City.
