After the second long break of the season, Formula 1 is back in action on a new continent. The competition arrives in America for the U.S. Grand Prix at the Circuit of Austin, the first stop on a four-race tour before heading to Qatar and Abu Dhabi to conclude the season.
Many teams have marked this race as their last chance to bring upgrades for the season. McLaren is expected to be the favorite, while Ferrari may struggle more than in the street circuits that suited them, although they didn't achieve the expected results in Singapore. If they don't bring improvements, Carlos Sainz will have a tough time fighting for victory.
Max Verstappen arrives in high spirits after maximizing his results in Marina Bay, with a second-place finish that felt like a victory, knowing that Lando Norris could have closed the gap even more. It's a Sprint weekend, so the Brit can gain more points than usual against the reigning champion, who will find it challenging if Red Bull doesn't step up like they did in the last race. Fernando Alonso comes in after several weekends scoring more points than he should have with his Aston Martin, which could bring new parts here.

2024 F1 World Championship
Max Verstappen has a 52-point lead over Lando Norris, and there are still 174 points available. The Brit needs to start closing the gap much more if he wants to contend for the title, as he currently doesn't have control over the situation; if Max finishes second in every race and Lando is first, he would end up winning the title.
Oscar Piastri is getting closer to Charles Leclerc, and he should eventually him, although the Australian may play a ive role in this final stretch of the season, as McLaren needs all the help they can get now that it seems they have almost secured the Constructors' Championship.
Fernando Alonso has almost secured ninth place, with 62 points, which is significantly more than his teammate and well above the performance of the Aston Martin. On the other hand, Carlos Sainz is fifth, although the Spaniard is aware that he has one less race, and looking solely at the points in the championship is not realistic for him.
