Artificial intelligence never ceases to amaze. This time, a viral video has reinvented the solemn papal conclave as if it were a Formula 1 driver presentation
The viral video
The montage, which already has hundreds of thousands of views, uses F1's iconic graphics to show the leading candidates to succeed the Pope.
The video presents the favorites as if they were motorsport stars. Each one appears on screen with their name and a quick animation, in the style of the official F1 intros.
Although some more conservative sectors have criticized the humorous tone, most of the comments are positive, celebrating the fresh way in which such a traditional event is presented
What is the conclave and how long does it last?
The conclave is the process by which the Catholic Church elects a new pope, combining prayer, secret ballots and a ritual that has remained almost unchanged since the 13th century
Only cardinals under the age of 80, currently 138, are eligible to vote. Gathered in the Sistine Chapel and completely isolated, they hold up to four votes a day, seeking for a candidate to reach two-thirds .If there is no agreement after several rounds, the vote is limited to the two most voted. Each vote is cast by hand in a ballot box, and then the ballots are burned: black smoke indicates that there is no pope; white smoke indicates that one has been chosen
