Setien demands more from Barcelona's academy players

Barcelona Not satisfied with quality

Quique Setien has itted that he's not quite satisfied with the level of quality in the Barcelona academy.

The Blaugrana's youth setup has always been something for other clubs to envy, but now it seems as though it's not satisfying the needs of the first team coach.

The future of Harry Kane has been a much discussed subject over the last few days.

"Kane is the best striker in the Premier League and he should sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona," said former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.

The problem is that some players wait too long before making the next step and it seems like the case with Kane, who would no longer fit in at either of Spain's top two sides.

"What do the people want: the academy or to keep progressing?" Setien said on TV3 about his philosophy at Barcelona.

"I'm not saying that we can't do it with the academy, but when see that those players lack what you need and that they need to improve and be more competitive... what you're doing is asking them to improve in order to make it."

At least Setien says what he thinks, even if it's not entirely positive.

Former Real Madrid player Ze Roberto has shown off his impeccable physique this week.

The 45-year-old Brazilian retired from football in 2017 and is still in peak condition.

"I have no vices," he said, and it's difficult to argue.

Pablo Garcia has itted his regret at ing Real Madrid this week.

"If I had to go back in time, I'd change lots of things," he said.

"I don't know if I'd go to Madrid. I don't know if I'd sign that contract."
