Former German referee Bernd Heynemann doesn't see football being played with players wearing masks as a viable option.
A report by Angela Merkel's government had proposed the idea as football looks for a way to return in the face of COVID-19, but Heynemann dismissed the suggestion.
"It's not possible, nor is it even a valuable or relevant idea," Heynemann said.
"Any incident with them could mean a game lasts nine hours.
"It's completely unrealistic and an idea that could only occur to a bureaucrat.
"I think the German Football League (DFL) have presented a good plan with testing and possible quarantines."
