The Xolos of Tijuana fell short of the Leagues Cup, as they were defeated by the MLS' Vancouver Whitecaps by a landslide after taking the lead but the completely came tumbling down in a 3-1 loss at BC Place in Canada.
The Xolos dominated the entire first half, with constant dangerous attacks on the goal defended by goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka, but the lack of forcefulness allowed the pack to only add one goal to the scoreboard; Kevin Castañeda, with the mark on him inside the Canadians' area, took the shot and sent the ball hitting the left post, opening the scoring in the 8th minute.

The Tijuana team was surprised at the beginning of the complementary half, at 49' Fafá Picault tied the score, escaped down the left wing to finally be in front of Antonio Rodríguez, and crossed the ball from the right towards the right goal post.
Vancouver came roaring back
A few minutes later there was an unfortunate situation for "Toño" Rodríguez as he received a ball in the face that left him knocked out and had to be removed from the field of play, so veteran goalkeeper Jesús Corona replaced him.
Things changed the rest of the second half, Whitecaps went all out and in the 77th minute Levonte Johnson scored the second on the board for the locals, placing his shot from outside the area towards the right side of the goal.
Six minutes ed before Pedro Vite got the third on the counter for Vancouver, he made the round sneak into the nets of "Chuy" Corona's goal attached to the left post.
It seems that the expulsion of Juan Carlos Osorio from the competition affected his team, but from now on they will have to focus on their next Liga MX match and forget about their bad time in the United States.
