Another tough result for Chivas, as they were eliminated in a penalty shootout against L.A. Galaxy, as the Rojiblancos failed for the second consecutive tournament in the Leagues Cup, after being eliminated in the group stage in another year. Those led by Fernando Gago said goodbye to the competition, extending their negative streak without knowing victory after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes and a 5-4 loss from 12 yards.

A few minutes were enough for Chivas to take the lead on the scoreboard, after, in a collective play, Fernando Beltrán assisted Ricardo Marín, who touched the ball for Alan Mozo, so the defender entered the box and with a powerful shot his team took the lead.

The celebration of the Chivas fans who gathered at the Dignity Health Sports Park did not last long, since the Galaxy's reaction was immediate, after Riqui Puig gave a between the lines for Mauricio Cuevas, who gave an assist to Joseph Paintsil to only push the ball and equalize the score at 1 to 1.

Another second half, a different story

In the second half, Chivas was able to have the advantage again in the game, after Fernando Beltrán took a shot that hit the crossbar. After that, Galaxy reacted by turning the score around, after Marky Delgado assisted Gabriel Pec, who scored with a placed shot to make the match 2-1.

With the score already against them, Chivas reacted in added time, after Mateo Chávez sent a precise cross to Cade Cowell, who finished off with a great header to tie the game at 2-2 and send the game to penalties.

In the penalty shootout, Omar Govea and Gilberto Sepúlveda failed for Chivas, so Guadalajara was once again eliminated for the second consecutive tournament in the group stage of the Leagues Cup, after only scoring two points. This gave San Jose the ticket to the next round.
