Sergio Garcia tells reporters to stop it
Sergio Garcia, a former champion, opened his 2023 Masters participation with a 74 stroke first round, two above the course's par and told reporters everything is normal at the major, saying that the press needs to stop asking about the LIV Golf matter.
"You guys are making a big deal out of it and it's you guys. I've had nothing but great things from every single player I talk to. So please stop it and talk about the Masters."
Reporters then instead asked him if LIV Golf having just three events before The Masters affects his preparation or play in the major, to which Garcia said he played more than that.
"I don't think you meant that, but I did play five tournaments coming in here. So it's pretty good. There's been times where I probably maybe haven't played that much coming into here.
