- Golf. Tiger Woods' limp rules him out on Sunday at Augusta
- Golf. No Grand Slam for Rory McIlroy as he crashes and burns at The Masters, misses the cut
The unlikely crossover between the golfing and wrestling worlds has become a reality this week after the popular video game PGA Tour 2k23 gained a familiar face.
That's because WWE legend and Hollywood superstar John Cena is now available as a playable in-game character.
The announcement was made late last month and received a positive reception from fans on Twitter, while his addition to the game has inspired fans to offer their own suggestions as to who should be added to the game.
Which new characters could be added to the PGA Tour 2K23 video game?
A widely suggested name is influencer and golfer Paige Spiranac, who has been seen this weekend in Augusta enjoying the Masters.
The 30-year-old has shot to notoriety on Instagram as one of the sport's leading influencers online.
The former San Diego State and Cactus Tour golfer boasts 3.7 million Instagram followers and a further 1.4 million on TikTok.
Another name that has circulated online is that of former soccer star Gareth Bale. The five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid is widely known to be a keen golfer and recently came in at 16th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am along with Justin Rose.
"I told Gareth, you just can't be so good at professional football and golf at the same time, it just doesn't seem fair," said Spanish golfer, Jon Rahm, to MARCA back in January.
One fan also suggested that Happy Gilmore be added to the game, in what was a tongue-in-cheek proposal.
The beloved 1996 blockbuster featured Adam Sandler who played Happy Gilmore, a hockey player who is turned into an unconventionally successful golfer.
Other names proposed by fans included James Bond characters, WWE stars Tiffany Stratton and Baron Corbin and Happy Gilmore characters Shooter McGavin and Bob Barker.
Given that John Cena has already been added, some more of these suggestions could end up being included.
