Kevin Bacon has revealed a surprising story in a chat with Robe Lowe, in the podcast 'Literally'. The actor has explained that he had to deal, to some extent, with the fear of paranormal phenomena of the owner of a house he intended to buy. The story occurred in 1983 and the artist was eventually forced to destroy a small farmhouse under contract.
The actor bought a farm in Connecticut and decided to expand his land by acquiring the annexes to it. However, problems arose when it came to getting hold of a certain plot of land that contained a house. Its owner was strangely reluctant to make the transaction and finally confessed the reasons to Bacon.
At first, the actor understood the homeowner's refusal to sell the house, as he had grown up there. Later, however, the real reasons came to light.
"I can't sell it to you because it's haunted and I'm afraid you'll be possessed and do serious damage," Bacon related during his conversation with Lowe.
Kevin Bacon's surprising deal
Eventually, the two sides reached an unorthodox understanding.
"We came to an agreement, in a contract, that he had to destroy the house in a month or so. It was a long process," he explained. Bacon has recalled that he wanted to take advantage of some furniture from the old farmhouse, but his partner was totally against it: "You're not going to put that damn stuff in our house."
In any case, Bacon has explained that he has never had a paranormal experience. Anyway, the actor has not been alarmed by this and has even confessed that he would like to live it at some point. For the moment, it seems that the house he bought and destroyed has not allowed him to do so.
