- Celebrities. Ben Affleck is 'one of the main reasons' Jennifer Lopez's popularity is plummeting
Ben Affleck found himself at the center of attention, but not for the reasons he might have hoped, as fans trolled him mercilessly for his appearance at the live roast of Tom Brady.
The Oscar winner, 51, made a surprise appearance at the event, only to become the subject of criticism on social media. Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their opinions, with one calling Affleck's speech "unhinged."
Viewers also speculated about Affleck's appearance, suggesting he may have undergone plastic surgery, as he looked remarkably different on stage.
During his speech, Affleck went on a strange rant, defending Brady and other sports stars against online criticism. "Fans have your back. You guys out there talking sh*t, all right, behind your f*cking keyboard, that doesn't make you a fan. That makes you a bitch," he exclaimed.
Affleck's jokes fell flat and he was aware of it
However, the speech did not go over well with the audience, and Affleck himself itted, "I'm probably never going to work again, actually, after tonight."
Social media s were quick to respond, with one fan describing Affleck's speech as a "car crash." Another commented, "Next time get somebody else to do it, don't ever invite Ben Affleck nomo."
Affleck's appearance at the roast comes as no surprise, as he is known to be an avid New England Patriots fan and a close friend of Brady. Despite the backlash, Affleck's friendship with Brady remains strong, as evidenced by their recent collaboration in a Dunkin' Donuts ad during the 2024 Super Bowl.
Nobody was safe from Brady's wit
Tom Brady's roast on Netflix had its fair share of laughs, especially when the legendary quarterback took aim at the Kansas City Chiefs and their fans, as well as Taylor Swift fans.
During the show, Brady poked fun at the Chiefs' claim of having the loudest stadium, quipping, "It helps when your fans are 14-year-old girls." He didn't stop there, also teasing the Chiefs' history, saying, "And in honor of Tay Tay, let's take a look at the Chiefs' eras; terrible for 50 years, good for five, shake it off."
Brady's jokes were well-received, showcasing his wit and humor, even when poking fun at himself and his career record against the Chiefs. Despite some tense matchups, especially the 2018 AFC Championship game, Brady always seemed to have the last laugh, securing wins and adding to his legendary status in the NFL.
