Keith Morrison, stepfather of the late Matthew Perry, is grateful to law enforcement officials following the news that investigators have laid charges against five people in connection with the death of the Friends actor.
The Dateline correspondent, 77, stated that he hopes "justice" will be carried out.
"We were and still are heartbroken by Matthew's death, but it has helped to know law enforcement has taken his case very seriously," Morrison said in a statement for the Morrison family.
"We look forward to justice taking its course and we're grateful for the exceptional work of the multiple agencies whose agents investigated Matthew's death.
"We're hoping unscrupulous suppliers of dangerous drugs will get the message."
Investigators continue to look into Perry's death
Perry ed away in October 2023 at the age of 54. The cause of death was revealed to be acute effects of ketamine, though the nature of his death was deemed to be "accidental".
Several charges were announced against Jasveen Sangha on Thursday, who U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada alleges is known as "The Ketamine Queen", as well as Dr. Salvador Plascencia.
Perry's personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.
The DOJ also announced that Erik Fleming and Dr. Mark Chavez were charged separately for conspiracy to distribute ketamine.
Authorities claim that the five individuals supplied and istered ketamine to Perry, taking advantage of his addiction and then trying to cover up their role in his death.
"These defendants took advantage of Mr. Perry's addiction issues to enrich themselves," Estrada alleged
