Jennifer Lopez played a pivotal role in reconnecting Ben Affleck with his family life before their relationship came to an end. When the couple married in July 2022, blending their families became a key focus, according to an insider who spoke with People on Thursday.
Affleck has three children-Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12-from his previous marriage to Jennifer Garner. Lopez is the mother of 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
"Family is very important to them, and together they were family people - and the connection doesn't end," the source noted.
The couple, who rekindled their romance in 2021, were often seen enjoying family outings with their children at various events, including amusement parks, outdoor movie screenings, and basketball games. Affleck also spent quality time with his kids, recently taking his son Samuel on a motorcycle ride around Los Angeles.
Lopez filed for divorce
Despite their efforts to create a blended family, differences between Lopez and Affleck became apparent. The source noted that while Lopez enjoys being in the public eye and socializing, Affleck is more reserved and prefers the comfort of home.
Lopez filed for divorce on Tuesday, marking the second anniversary of their wedding in Georgia. According to sources from Page Six, she chose this significant date to symbolize her decision to stand strong after feeling disappointed by the outcome of their marriage.
Affleck reportedly showed little interest in trying to save the relationship, and the separation date was recorded as April 26.
The former couple and their five children have accepted that the marriage has come to an end. "Everyone is ready to move on," an insider told Page Six.
Affleck was seen arriving in Los Angeles after dropping his daughter Violet off at Yale University, looking content as he deboarded a private jet with his ex-wife Garner. However, after the divorce news surfaced, he appeared more subdued.
