Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds could find themselves regretting their recent Saturday Night Live appearance because Justin Baldoni could use it in their lawsuit.

Baldoni's legal team is considering using Reynolds' 'SNL 50' joke about the lawsuits as part of Baldoni's defence, according to an inside who spoke to Page Six.

Lively has been locked in a dramatic situation with her 'It Ends With Us' co-star and she made her first red carpet appearance with Reynolds since it all kicked off.

They chose to remain jolly about the situation. When asked how he was doing during the live show, Reynolds replied, "Great! Why, what have you heard?"

However, given the lawsuit centers on claims of sexual harassment, extortion and defamation, many people think it is not something that Reynolds should have made light of. That appears to be how Baldoni's lawyers feel, at least.

"It's very plausible that Justin's legal team will use this public outing to defend him," the insider tells Page Six.

"Justin is taking this lawsuit in all seriousness and isn't making a public mockery out of it," they add.

How could the appearance backfire?

At this stage, it is not clear exactly how the defence could work this event into Baldoni's case, but it is generally accepted that it is within the interests of both parties not to speak publicly about it until a resolution has been found.

"People in Hollywood think Blake and Ryan attending the 'SNL' 50th anniversary show was not a good look," the insider shares.

"They think they should have sat this one out."

Despite the mixed opinions, a second source said that Reynolds and Lively "have no regrets about making an appearance at the show" and "were two of the last people to leave Studio 8H."

"Blake was initially hesitant to attend the 'SNL' 50th anniversary show but ultimately she's glad she attended and had a really nice time," the second insider said.

"They're glad they showed up because they have nothing to hide and no reason not to."
