Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have been spending increasing amounts of time together in the wake of his split from Jennifer Lopez, but sources close to the actress reveal she is deeply conflicted about their renewed closeness. While their connection is undeniable-recently captured in a tender embrace while paintballing with their children Fin and Sam - Garner reportedly remains cautious, fearing a repeat of past heartbreak.
According to insiders, the 52-year-old actress still loves Affleck but carries trust issues from their tumultuous past, particularly his affair with their former nanny, Christine Ouzounian, nearly a decade ago. As per the Daily Mail, she is "deathly afraid of falling back in love" with him.
"She loves Ben but is worried that he will crush her all over again," a source told Daily Mail. "She doesn't want to heal another broken heart because it is just too much drama, plus she does not want their kids to see round two of their mom in a bad place with their dad."
Despite her love for Affleck, Garner is reportedly terrified of rekindling their romance and enduring another painful split.

"It was a real marriage. It wasn't for the cameras. And it was a huge priority for me to stay in it. And that did not work," Garner said.

"If you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you're going to be friends with that person," she said.
