The sudden death of rapper Rich Homie Quan has left the music world in shock and a newly released 9-1-1 call has shed light on the tragic moment. The rapper, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on Thursday morning at the age of 34.
In the distressing call, made by Quan's girlfriend Amber Williams, she tells the operator that she had found him asleep on the couch that morning and had been unable to wake him.
Amber also mentioned she couldn't feel a heartbeat and the operator guided her through what to do until help arrived, instructing her to lay him on the floor.
"I left him on the couch before I took my son to school this morning and I put a blanket over him and now I just checked on him again cause he never got up. I don't see him breathing," she said according to TMZ.
"I turned him over [and he was] foaming at the mouth."
An autopsy is scheduled for September 6 to determine the cause of death, as no immediate explanation has been provided.
Just days before his death, on September 1, Quan posted a selfie on Instagram wearing a green and white jersey and diamond jewelry. He also promoted an appearance at a Labor Day car and bike show in Arkansas on his X .
Quan's family confirmed the news of his ing to TMZ, expressing their devastation. Tributes from the music world poured in, with rapper Jacquees, a frequent collaborator, paying his respects on social media.
"Rest in Peace my brother Rich Homie Quan. I love you for Life. #Richgang," Jacquees wrote.
