Sometimes, people just want to come home after a long day at work, sit down at their desk or couch and just lose themselves in the world of video games. For a lot of people, that means booting up a PlayStation 5. With so many games now requiring an internet connection even to play single player games, in addition to the multitude of multiplayer games available, it's paramount for PlayStation's servers to operate efficiently.
At the moment, that isn't happening, as the PlayStation Network continues to have issues following a major outage that has sured the 24-hour mark. Making matters worse has been PlayStation's silence on the matter. The only message about the outage came from the PlayStation on X.
s have been reporting the network coming back online as of Friday night, although some still appear to be having trouble getting back online. Given how lengthy the outage lasted and the company's relative silence on the matter, it has gotten people wondering what is causing the issues.
Can PlayStation Network outage lead to changes for live service games?
No one has been able to pinpoint a specific reason for it, and PlayStation is yet to say anything about the cause. So gamers are out of the loop and may never know. But an outage this long has the potential to spark some change when it comes to games that require an online connection to be played, even if a gamer is only trying to play a single player or offline mode.
It has been a source of frustration for many, particularly PlayStation s who play Gran Turismo 7, which is an "always online" game that doesn't really work without an online connection.
