The White House South Lawn had a different kind of energy on Tuesday-one fueled by electric vehicles and a president on a mission to Elon Musk.Tesla models lined the area, and the event felt more like a car showcase than a political gathering.

Before stepping outside, Trump posted on Truth Social that he planned to buy a Tesla, calling it a show of for Musk. But when he finally arrived, it wasn't just his words that drew attention-it was his handwritten notes, which a photographer managed to capture.

This is a lack of respect! The visit from president Zelenski to the White House ended in discussion

A close-up of the notes revealed what looked suspiciously like a Tesla sales pitch. Scrawled on the page were figures like "$299/month" and "Teslas can be purchased as low as $35K." Whether it was a personal shopping list or an unintentional ad, the details had people talking.

A public endorsement-or an unscripted infomercial?

Trump didn't just ire the Teslas on display-he committed to buying one. After circling a gleaming red Model S, he declared it "beautiful" and promised to write a check for it. He also said he'd gift his granddaughter Kai a Cybertruck, another high-ticket Tesla model.

The event wasn't just about personal purchases. Trump used the moment to defend Musk against what he called "unfair treatment" by critics and protesters. He condemned the recent attacks on Tesla showrooms and charging stations, even calling them acts of "domestic terrorism."

For Musk, the public backing couldn't have come at a better time. Tesla's stock has taken a hit in recent months, dropping 55% since December amid slowing sales and controversy over Musk's growing political involvement. The company has also faced mounting protests from those opposed to Musk's policies and business decisions.

At the event, Musk expressed gratitude for Trump's and announced plans to ramp up Tesla's U.S. production in the next two years. He urged his ers to stand against the backlash, saying Tesla's success is tied to America's future in clean energy and innovation.

Trump's sudden enthusiasm for electric vehicles is a sharp contrast to his previous stance. As recently as last summer, he voiced opposition to widespread EV adoption. Now, not only is he buying one-he's making the case for why others should, too.
