A suspected serial killer, investigated for his possible link to the case of O.J. Simpson, which shocked the United States in the 1990s, was executed last Thursday in Florida for the murder of a woman found dead in a Tampa motel room.
Glen Rogers, 62, was given a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke and was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m. local time, authorities said.
He was convicted in Florida of the 1995 murder of Tina Marie Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two whom he met in a bar.
He had also received a death sentence in California for the 1995 strangulation murder of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three whom he met at a bar in Van Nuys, California; that murder occurred weeks before Cribbs'.
Rogers was arrested after a chase on a Kentucky highway while driving Cribbs' car shortly after her death.
Rogers' chilling message for Donald Trump
Before he died, Rogers thanked his wife, who visited him that same day in prison, according to visitation records. He also said, somewhat ironically, that "we will soon answer your questions".
In addition, he left a message to the president of the country, Donald Trump, saying: "President Trump, keep making America great again. I am ready to go", and subsequently began the process of lethal injection, and remained silent during the process.
The execution lasted only 16 minutes. Once it began, Rogers barely moved, remaining motionless with his mouth slightly open. At one point, a staff member grabbed him by the shoulders, shook him and shouted "Rogers, Rogers!", to see if he was conscious.
No family of the Florida victim spoke to the press afterwards.
Rogers, originally from Hamilton, Ohio, had also been dubbed the "Casanova Killer" or "Cross Country Killer" in various media outlets.
Some of his alleged and proven female victims had similar characteristics: they were in their 30s, small in stature and had red hair.
