We are starting the second month of the year, and all Americans are preparing to receive the corresponding stimulus from the government in 2025.
Although it has been almost five years since the Covid-19 pandemic, the IRS is still trying to cash the checks that could not be distributed in those years, which will provide enormous financial relief to low-income residents through rebates and discounts.
Here we will introduce you to those stimulus programs that much of the population is unaware of and that can be of great help when receiving these benefits.
Special IRS payments
Up to more than one million residents of the United States can claim their payments of up to $1,400, thanks to the so-called American Rescue Plan that many never collected
The IRS announced that it is authorizing "special payments" of up to $1,400 to eligible individuals who did not claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit, or who did not file a return that year. The IRS will pay up to $2.4 billion in total and more than 1 million payments in January alone.
Even those who earned little or no income that year may qualify, but the deadline to claim is Tax Day, April 15, 2025.
Millions of New Yorkers to Receive Stimulus Checks
Up to 8.6 million New Yorkers could receive checks for $300 to $500, after Governor Kathy Hochul included stimulus for middle-class New Yorkers in her fiscal year 2026 budget proposal, meaning payments could begin later this year.
The rebate is the first state inflation relief stimulus payment, and is part of a broader anti-inflation agenda that has seen the state return $5.5 billion to taxpayers as rebates, refunds and supplemental payments during Hochul's istration.
Billions to be shared among Colorado residents
Colorado's Property Tax, Rent and Heat Rebate (PTC) program pays stimulus checks to low-income residents to mitigate the high cost of rent, heating and property taxes.
Those who filed their application before Tax Day 2024 received $800 to $1,600 for t filers, but there is still time for those who missed the deadline.
The state will accept applications until December 31, 2025 and will provide reimbursement payments of up to $1,112 per year to qualified individuals who earned less than $18,016 in 2023, or t filers who earned up to $24,345.
In Sacramento, there will be checks for up to $725
To provide consistent financial assistance to struggling families, the Sacramento Family First Economic Pilot Program (FFESP) introduced a $725 monthly stimulus check program.
The initiative focuses on ing low-income Native American and African American families living in Sacramento County, California.
The program is designed to help these families cover essential costs such as housing, childcare and food, offering them a lifeline in difficult times.
The monthly stimulus check program is more than just a one-off relief effort. Unlike traditional federal stimulus payments, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to address poverty and reduce economic disparities.
