The stress of tax season is finally behind us and with the ing of the days, a much more pleasant one opens up, that of refunds, which many people look forward to.
The most important question every taxpayer asks after fulfilling their tax obligations is undoubtedly when will I receive my refund? And in May, answers begin to emerge, as the IRS distributes or disburses refund payments 21 days after the filing date, provided they were filed electronically and in a timely manner, plus the bank processing time, which is another five days at most.
It should be noted that not everyone qualifies for refunds from the IRS, as there are in fact those who end up with a balance against them or simply break even, so before expecting any payment, they should make sure they are eligible for it.
Who will receive a refund from May 16?
For all those cases in which 21 days have already ed since the original filing date, assuming that they meet the time and form requirements, and assuming that there was no problem with the processing of their return, and of course they had a 'refund', this is the payment schedule.
The first column is the date you file your return, while the second is the date you can expect your payment:
