Pending confirmation, Sinaloa Cartel co-founder Ismael 'Mayo' Zambada has reportedly been detained in El Paso, Texas on Thursday. According to Border Patrol officials' information provided to multiple media outlets, Zambada was detained at around 2 p.m. this Thursday in one of hte town's private airports. No further information was reported, this is still pending official confirmation but the story is already running through multiple outlets around the world. The Sinaloa Cartel leader is currently being processed in order to move him to a highly secured prison and will eventually be trialed for his crimes against humanity. Zambada was one of the last Cartel Capos who were still free, he founded the Sinaloa Cartel alongside Hector Palma and Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman Loera.

Both the State Department and the DEA already had their tabs on the Sinaloa Cartel leader for years, several courts in the United States of America had open files and cases against him. They were after him for being the leader of a criminal organization, conspiracy, murder, money laundering, money counterfit, and drug distribution across the country. The fentanyl epidemic has been one of the main causes of death for Americans in several parts of the country, all thanks to the role played by the Sinaloa Cartel. According to a DEA high-ranking official who spoke to Mexican publication 'Proceso', the detention was a sting operation organized by the U.S. State Department, the FBI, and the DEA. this publication deems Zambada's detention as strange bcause it blindsided multiple officials within the U.S. Government. There are also rumors that Zambada himself was the one who arranged his own detention but that information remains unconfirmed by authorities. Currently, the Sinaloa Cartel still has Ivan Archibaldo Guzman, Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar as the leaders. Adding insult to injury, it has also been reported that Joaquin Guzman Lopez was also detained alongside Zambada.
