Major League Baseball (MLB) had an action-packed Friday, June 24 that witnessed history in San Diego, Atlanta and New York.
The San Diego Padres defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 as the Nola brothers battled in what would become a historic game.
Austin Nola hit an RBI single off his brother Aaron Nola in the sixth inning for the only run of the game and a Padres victory.
It's the first time since 1900 that an MLB player has driven in the only run of a game off his brother.
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-1 in an emotional night for Freddie Freeman, who returned to the ATL for the first time since leaving the franchise.
Freeman, 32, won the 2021 World Series as a Brave, where he spent 15 seasons.
He received a standing ovation and a championship ring in his return, and itted that he still loves Atlanta with all his heart.
"I always told you guys how much I love the Braves, this city," Freeman said. "I thought I loved this city and this organization a lot, but I think you can tell how much I truly do love this organization and this city.
"I don't even know how I'm gonna get through this weekend, guys, if I'm being honest."
The New York Yankees were on pace for a historic 120-win season but fell short against the Houston Astros on Friday, losing 3-1.
Yankees entered the contest riding a 15-game home winning streak and with Aaron Judge fresh off a 2022 contract agreement but that's where celebrations ended.
Astros, who lost the 2021 World Series to the Braves, soured the Yankees' incredible start to the season.
Yankees are now 51-19 and have the second-most runs in baseball (behind the New York Mets, who defeated the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Friday), while allowing the fewest.
The home side went into the match tied for the third-best start in franchise history through 69 games.
Despite the loss, Yankees are still on pace to break the all-time win record of 116, held by the 2001 Mariners.
