Patrick Mahomes is not the first great athlete in his family. His dad, Patrick Mahomes Sr, played 11 seasons of professional baseball and had plenty of stories to tell the future NFL MVP from his years on the mound.

"I'm sitting in the dugout talking to my arm," Mahomes re. "These motherf-----s can't f--- with you. None of 'em!"
He had already worked through the Seattle Mariners lineup twice without giving up a run, including a strikeout against Griffey.

When "The Kid" came up for his third at-bat in the 6th, he wasn't going to let Mahomes do it again. He stepped into the box with the bases loaded and took Pat's first pitch deep into the upper deck for a grand slam home run, giving the Mariners a 4-2 lead and staring down Mahomes as he rounded the bases. Welcome to the league, rook.
"I come back in the dugout and (Kirby Puckett) was like, 'Son, you're gonna learn. In this game, you let a sleeping dog lie.'"
