Baseball fans got a treat on Monday as Cincinnati Reds' rising star, Elly De La Cruz, and recently acquired New York Yankees sensation, Juan Soto, shared a private suite at the Miami Dolphins vs. Tennessee Titans 'Monday Night Football' game.
The pair's presence at the NFL game quickly went viral on social media.
Soto, the Yankees' latest acquisition in a blockbuster trade with the Padres, made a swift trip to Miami shortly after ing the team.
The 25-year-old outfielder, accompanied by his younger brother Elian Soto and De La Cruz, enjoyed the Dolphins-Titans game from a private suite at Hard Rock Stadium.
Soto's presence in the suite was documented on Elian's Instagram Story, showcasing the trio's camaraderie.
De La Cruz, at just 21 years old, has made a significant impact since his major league debut with the Reds in June 2023.
Despite being a player with room for improvement, his contributions have been noteworthy, with a batting average of .235, 13 home runs, and an impressive 35 stolen bases.
The Reds, sparked by his arrival, surged in their pursuit of a playoff berth, aiming for their first since 2020.
Soto's future with the Yankees
On Wednesday during his introductory press conference with the Bronx team, Soto addressed his future with the Yankees.
When questioned about a possible contract extension, he replied, "My priorities right now are just getting to know the team, getting to know the guys."
Soto emphasized his commitment to playing baseball and deferred contract talks to his agent, Scott Boras, who was present during the press conference.
The trade that brought Soto to the Yankees also involved the acquisition of Trent Grisham from the Padres.
With Soto expected to take on the role of the team's right fielder, Aaron Judge will shift to center, and Alex Verdugo, another recent addition, will handle left field.
Grisham is set to serve as a valuable fourth outfielder and late-game defensive replacement.
Soto's credentials speak volumes, with a stellar 2023 season batting .275/.410/.519 and contributing 35 homers, 32 doubles, a triple, and 109 RBIs for San Diego.
Notably, he played a pivotal role in helping the Nationals secure the 2019 World Series.
The Yankees, coming off an 82-80 season, have high expectations for Soto's impact on their lineup.
