Comedian Eitan Levine has carved out a unique place in history, but this time, it's not for his jokes-he's just set a new Guinness World Record for the most ceremonial first pitches thrown in a year. This accomplishment not only highlights Levine's ion for baseball but also shows his commitment to making a positive impact, blending his love for the game with a cause that's close to his heart.
Levine's milestone was achieved on Wednesday at Citi Field in Queens, New York, where the Mets edged out the Baltimore Orioles with a 4-3 win.
Levine, who survived childhood cancer, stepped onto the mound wearing a Mets jersey, number 50, in the team's signature colors. He threw the ceremonial first pitch to outfielder Tyrone Taylor, marking his 40th first pitch at an MLB stadium in the past year-a record-breaking achievement.
"This has been a crazy summer of travel, sleeping in airport hotels that were $30 a night, sleeping in my car and driving everywhere," Levine said.
"It has been a crazy journey, and I'm super excited to get the record."
The Make-A-Wish Foundation
But this journey wasn't just about setting a record. Levine used his campaign to raise awareness and funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that played a pivotal role in his own life.
"I had cancer, got a Make-A-Wish and am psyched to try and raise a few $$$ for them via this record attempt," Levine said on Instragram
As a child, Levine had his wish granted, allowing him to meet his sports heroes from the Mets and New York Rangers, and now he's giving back in a meaningful way.
And Levine's record-setting journey isn't over yet-he has 11 more stops planned before the MLB season wraps up, ensuring that his total will continue to climb.
