Justin Verlander is set to be one of the most talked about players during free agency, with as many as three MLB teams keen to acquire his services.
The 39-year-old is coming off a stellar campaign for the Houston Astros, helping the team to a World Series title. His performances were so impressive that he is expected to also take home the American League Cy Young Award.
After missing the 2021 season due to Tommy John Surgery, Verlander posted an 18-4 record with a 1.75 ERA in 28 starts for Houston.
Verlander attracting interest
After opting out of his player option with the Astros, Verlander is now a free agent with several big market teams interested in landing the veteran.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are all looking to add him to their pitching staff.
He adds that at this time Verlander hasn't made a decision on which team to , though he hasn't ruled out a return to the Astros either.
Although he is pushing 40 years of age, the Virginia native is an ideal fit for a win-now club looking to make the World Series.
