- Dodgers. Ohtani is already a hero to Japanese children
- Dodgers. Dodgers suffer devastating blow to their pitching staff after remarkable performance against the Padres
The Dodgers are already through to the National League Championship Series after eliminating the Padres in a dramatic game, and they got there in large part thanks to their two Japanese players, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, one with the bat and the other on the mound. But these two just shared with us a moment of the enormous chemistry they have on the field and the love shared by the fans of the team led by Dave Roberts.
Ohtani and Yamamoto, two Japanese triumphing with Dodgers
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the Los Angeles Dodgers' $325 million starting pitcher, got the ball in the club's biggest game of the season, a winner-take-all Game 5 of the National League Divisional Series against the San Diego Padres on Friday night and finished with five complete innings without conceding a run from the opposing ninth.
And Yamamoto's teammate and compatriot Shohei Ohtani showed how proud he is of his friend. Television cameras saw Ohtani patting Yamamoto on the head in good humor after he was taken out of the game.
After the emotional moment between the Japanese, the two isolated themselves from the rest of their teammates in celebration and engaged in a big hug.
As long as the Dodgers keep winning, there are likely to be more memorable moments penned by Ohtani and Yamamoto. Los Angeles will face the New York Mets in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday at 8:15 p. m. ET.
The Mets sent their Japanese pitcher Kodai Senga against Jack Flaherty of the Dodgers and it is very likely that we will see more duels between players from Japan in a trend they have established in MLB.
