Aaron Judge is one of the most recognizable stars in American sports at the moment. The 2022 AL MVP is the face of the most iconic MLB franchise and set records left and right last season.
It's no surprise a player of his magnitude is a hot commodity for sponsorships. Judge signed with Adidas in 2018, but was unofficially representing Jordan Brand for a little while. Today, the "Jumpman" brand finally announced the deal with Judge.
With the announcement came a spread of photos, with one of them being a recreation of Michael Jordan's iconic "6 Rings" portrait. The only problem: Judge has never won a World Series ring.
The decision drew a lot of blowback, and Judge was subjected to plenty of memes in the process.
Judge is now the fifth current MLB player to sign with Jordan, ing Manny Machado, Mookie Betts, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
Jordan Brand also revealed Judge's first player exclusive cleats, which feature a "Double Gum" theme.
Bad Yankees, Good Judge
While the New York Yankees sit in last place in the AL East with a 60-62 record, Judge can say that he's having another stellar personal season. He has missed a big chunk of the season, but he's hitting .281 and has clubbed 23 homers in 68 games.
The season isn't over, but the Yankees are a long shot to sniff the playoffs. It will be the first time they miss the postseason since 2016.
