Olympic legend Mary Lou Retton has been "fighting for her life" after contracting an extremely dangerous and rare type of pneumonia. Since the news went public, there has been an overwhelming wave of from the public.
In fact, after the former athlete's eldest daughter McKenna Kelley started a Spotfund for help pay for treatment, more than $375,000 has been raised. The biggest donation came from Mattress Mack. The Texan furniture gallery owner, famous for winning the largest legal payout in sports betting history, pledged $50,000 to the cause.

Daughter Shayla Kelley took to Instagram to express her thanks for the overwhelming response. "First and foremost, thank you so much for all the love and that you've given to my mom," she began in the video.
"My sisters and I are overwhelmed. We didn't even realize that there's so many people out there that love her just as much as we do. And It's been a really hard time for our family, and so just seeing that people love her like and showing her that has just meant the world to us and to her," continued Shayla.
It remains to be seen if the legendary gymnast is able to pull through and make a sufficient recovery. For now, as explained by her daughters, Mary Lou will remain in intensive care.
It's a "day-by-day process", said daughter Shayla before asking followers to continue to pray for her mother.
