Martina Navratilova, the 18-time Grand Slam tennis champion, was critical of the presence of transgender runners in the women's category at the Boston Marathon, in which Kenya's John Korir and Sharon Lokedi triumphed on Monday.

Thus, about the presence of athlete Robert 'Riya' Young in the women's race, the American said that "this man knows he's cheating me. And I'm not here for that."

It's not the first time that the presence of a trans athlete in a women's event has raised criticism among athletes. In fact, recently the American fencer Stephanie Turner refused to face Redmond Sullivan, a transgender shooter, in the Cherry Blossom Tournament, held at the University of Maryland.

It should be ed that the Boston Marathon was one of the first 'majors' to create a category for non-binary athletes, that is, athletes who do not identify with the male or female gender. In this edition, the winner of the non-binary category was Whit Blair, with a time of 2:22:47.
