- NCAA. Hailey Van Lith gets brutally honest on how Caitlin Clark's Elite 8 domination left her shattered
Hailey Van Lith has made the decision to the Horned Frogs at TCU, according to Talia Goodman of Next Hoops.
The talented point guard, who started her collegiate journey at Louisville before spending last season at LSU, will now be transferring to TCU. In her recent stint with LSU, Van Lith maintained an average of 11.6 points and 3.6 assists per game.
Compared to her time at Louisville, where she averaged 15.4 points per game, Van Lith's scoring numbers dipped while at LSU due to being on a team with more scoring options, resulting in fewer shot attempts for her.
Why did Van Lith decide to move?
Van Lith's final appearance for LSU was marred by a struggle to contain Caitlin Clark during the Elite Eight matchup against Iowa. Clark's dominant performance saw her score 41 points, including nine three-pointers.
Reflecting on Van Lith's decision to enter the transfer portal, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey emphasized her desire to further develop her game and position herself better for the next level of play.
"She wanted to improve her strengths by coming to LSU with a goal of expanding her game by learning a position that I played my entire life because she knows at the next level that's her only chance - to be able to tell them somewhat, 'I can handle the ball if you need me to," Mulkey declared.
"She's one of the hardest working players that I've ever coached".
Initially, there was speculation that Van Lith might choose Mississippi State, given her previous experience playing under Bulldogs' head coach Sam Purcell during her time at Louisville.
