The first game of the year will not be in the United States as it is part of the international features that the NCAA has for this season. Let's take a look of the matchups to start the road to the College Football Playoff.
#10 Florida State vs Georgia Tech
This is by far the key matchup to start the year. This game will be played in Dublin, Ireland at Aviva Stadium and the Seminoles will look to maintain their status as playoff hopefuls and jump up in the rankings right after their first game. The Yellowjackets will have a tough time stopping this high-powered offense. Kickoff is set for Noon ET on ESPN.
Montana State vs New Mexico
The Lobos will try to forget what happened during last season, as they will host the Bobcats in a very interesting game. While New Mexico will try to set the tone for the rest of the season in the Mountain West Conference, the hill is tough to climb a Week 0 win will lift their spirits. Kickoff is set for 4PM ET on FS1.
SMU vs Nevada
This very much could be the most intriguing game during the first week of the college football season. The Mustangs just changed conferences and Nevada is trying to become a force in the Mountain West. Both teams will leave everything on the field because a loss could put them very far from contention. Kickoff is set for 8PM ET on CBSSN.
Delaware State vs Hawai'i
The late game of the first slate of the season features Delaware State team that will look to generate big surprises in the year. However they both had tough challenges ahead of them in their respective conferences, so a win would mean a lot. Kickoff is set for 11:59PM ET on Spectrum Sports PPV.
