ESPN's college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit wasted no time addressing Florida State's stunning defeat in Week 0 of the college football season. The No. 10 Seminoles were upset by Georgia Tech, 24-21, in a closely contested game held in Dublin, Ireland.

Herbstreit took to social media shortly after the game, seemingly taking a light-hearted jab at Florida State. This comment comes after Herbstreit became a controversial figure among Florida State fans last season. His vocal opposition to the Seminoles' inclusion in the College Football Playoff sparked outrage, particularly when he argued they didn't deserve a spot after their quarterback, Jordan Travis, suffered a knee injury.

Tension between Herbstreit and FSU started last year

The tension between Herbstreit and Florida State fans was evident when the analyst was met with boos during ESPN's "College Football Gameday" show in Dublin on Saturday. The animosity dates back to last season when Florida State, despite a perfect 13-0 record and an ACC Championship, was left out of the Playoff-a first for an unbeaten Power 5 conference champion. The decision ignited a heated debate across the college football community, with Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell expressing his anger, describing the exclusion as "disgusting" and "infuriating."

Despite the controversy, the Seminoles' season ended on a sour note when they were routed by Georgia, 63-3, in the Orange Bowl, somewhat justifying their exclusion from the Playoff in the eyes of critics.

As for this season, it hasn't started on the right foot for Florida State. New quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, a transfer from Oregon State, struggled in his debut, completing 19 of 27 es for a modest 193 yards.
