The Colorado Buffaloes picked up another win on Saturday, blowing out UCF 48-21 on the road. The team was once again led by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, which has become the norm. Sanders threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns, while Hunter went 9/89/1 as a receiver and also picked off a while playing cornerback.
It was easily Colorado's best win of the season, especially considering UCF was 3-0 heading into this game. Now at 4-1, Deion Sanders can dream big for his team. The leadup into this weekend's matchup wasn't smooth by any means. In fact, the team drew backlash due to an ill-timed graphic posted by the social media department, in which Hurricane Helene was at the forefront. Surprisingly, Coach Prime mentioned the hurricane in his postgame interview, but for an entirely different reason.
Deion Sanders' postgame comments after Colorado-UCF
Sanders revealed that having to travel to Orlando earlier than usual, because of the timing of the storm, actually led to the team bonding and performing better.
We worked our butts off this week. We had a little few distractions because of the storm, so we had to get here early. So that gave us really intent focus. Because it was just with the team, no family , no nothing. And we just locked in and focused. We had tremendous walk-throughs and tremendous practices... I am so proud of these young men, you have no idea. I'm lost for words.
At times since Sanders took over as head coach of Colorado, the team hasn't always looked in sync. Either the offense has to carry the defense, or players commit brutal drops, and it has led to some in-house negativity. That has affected their win-loss record.
But as we reach the middle point of the college football season, Colorado continues to build momentum and chemistry as a collective unit.
