Deion Sanders scares rivals by claiming Colorado freshman is the "next Travis Hunter"

Could we see yet another two-player for the Buffaloes soon?

Everything is looking up for the Colorado football program at the moment. A blowout win on the road over UCF has the Buffaloes at 4-1 on the season, with a huge game coming up against #20 Kansas State. Led by elite stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, Deion Sanders is dreaming big. Hunter, in particular, has been a revelation. Dominating on both sides of the ball, Hunter is looking primed to be a Top 5 pick in the NFL Draft.

Two-way players have been a thing in college football in the past, but it has rarely translated to the NFL. The NFL is so fast and so demanding, that players need to focus on the intricacies of one position at a time. But Hunter is set to buck that conventional wisdom given just how incredible he is at both wide receiver and cornerback.

Isaiah Hardge set to replace Travis Hunter in 2025

Sanders wants to capitalize on the two-way revolution, and he's setting up Isaiah Hardge to be next in line.

Y'all don't even understand what this grey jersey means... He's a two-way player. You only thought we had Travis. He next.

Hardge committed to Colorado in April of 2022, before Sanders had even taken the mantle as their head coach. Hardge was a three-star recruit out of high school powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Recruited as a receiver, he converted to defensive back once he got to Colorado, but it sounds like Sanders has bigger plans for him after he's seen Hunter's two-way success.

Hardge isn't as talented as Hunter, who was a five-star recruit coming out. He's also shorter and not as physically gifted, but he has room to build muscle on his 5-10, 160 frame. He redshirted in 2023 and hasn't played much at all so far, but he should have a big role once Hunter jets off to the NFL after this season.
